Hectic Foil Run Across Bigbury & Bantham
Просмотров 1 тыс.7 месяцев назад
A really fun foil run across the bay, until my foil got pulled under by seaweed, when I popped the weed had released, all good, but then I paddled into a big bed of weed and got stuck for ages! In surfing its just your leash that gets tangled in weed, but with the foil it was like being anchored. Didn't get too smashed so all good. I would normally use my bigger wing for cross shore pump runs, ...

    Waiting for the reconnecting the wave part, maybe you could make a part about setting up and tuning i know it’s evil but i think most of the time people me including doesnt have the right setup ( too much nose down for exemple) which can hinder the pumping .

    I was at and surfed in a contest in this video, the Eurosurf 1975, it was about 45 minutes north of biarritz at a beach, not sure where, we called it Hossegors, tho that town is further north. Also not sure if it was eurosurf 75, or a year two earlier. Sign up at the contest, no entry fee. Surfed a lot just outside the contest area. Living out of a 1959 Peugeot 403 that cost me 500 francs, about $150, had an overheating problem, so had to pull over and let it cool off after driving about 45 minutes. --Gerry Kantor

    Hi, nice vid! So surprise you manage to surf in so small waves with 750 sk8. I have the 850 sk8. For surfoiling in average waves it's ok but it's pretty hard for pumping and connecting waves. My pumping technique seems to be not efficient enough. I used to surf with the Phantom 1280 and I managed to connect waves easily. What is your mast position in the board rails? Do you think I should move my mast forward in the rails or test a 950/1050 sk8? Thanks!

    • @110SurfingTechniques1
      @110SurfingTechniques1 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks, the 750 is defo tricky to pump, especially if it’s not ideal conditions. But if I get a fast exit off the wave it covers a lot of ground quickly. The 950 pumps and glides really well though, so much easier as I can feel a bit of resistance from the foil. I haven’t tried the 850 to compare. Is your board an appletree skipper? 🤙🏼🤙🏼

    • @110SurfingTechniques1
      @110SurfingTechniques1 5 месяцев назад

      Regarding mast position yea try moving it forward and see how it feels for you. I normally move the mast forward until it starts feeling like it’s loosing too much forward drive when pumping

    Really love this simple video. I appreciate the Ka’a vids, Josh, Voyager, all the Aussies but this brings prone into perspective. I started with DW winging on a 7’10” 21” 127L board with zero success.,sold it and went giant to 8’8” 26” 150L. Still, no flying in 15 sessions, 4 on the bigger board. But it’s waaay better until I blistered my toes and had to dry dock a few months. Now, at 72, I’m ready to put the wing and paddle away and glide into some high tide SoCal waves. 60 year fish surfer and snowboarder so I’m already front foot biased. Can’t wait to get on it. Thank you… subbed. Henry

    Great pumping, I’m 65kgs based in south wales so same kit choices regarding wetsuits. I’ve got a phantom 1280 for winging and have been using this for prone too just started to get my pump game going but want a more high performance foil for the wing as well as prone. Torn between the 850 and 959 Sk8 what would your choice be ?

    • @110SurfingTechniques1

      850 should be a good all rounder for pumping and turns. I have a sk8 950 and a 750, 950 is awesome for pumping but the 750 is hard work pumping. I weigh 79kg for comparison. Hope that helps 🤙🏼🤙🏼
